Biography

Dr. Kahney grew up in Indiana and Minnesota before moving to Texas during college. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame where he proudly cheered for The Fighting Irish during their 1988 National Championship season. He spent 4 years at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and then completed his residency in Family Medicine at St. Margaret’s Memorial Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His wife grew up several hours north of Pittsburgh in NW Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kahney joined Highland Woods Health in 1997 and has lived in The Woodlands ever since. He is happily married, has three wonderful children and two grandchildren. Dr. Kahney loves the outdoors and can often be found hiking deep in the woods. He enjoys hiking, cross country skiing, backpacking, listening to music, and adventurous travel.

He still cheers for Notre Dame football and hopes to one day celebrate another National Championship along with maybe even a Texans Super Bowl. While he waits for the Texans to rise again, he can often be found listening to the Astros on his AM radio. He and his family love going on adventures that challenge them and allow them to enjoy the amazing world in which we live.

The Kahneys share their house with a free-spirited Australian Terrier. “Seffa” takes Dr. Kahney on frequent walks and always succeeds in teaching him about the simple joy that can be found on life’s paths. He hopes to someday be as content as his happy little dog. In the meantime, he finds great happiness in time spent with his family, in practicing Family Medicine, and on the many wonderful trails in his life—wherever they take him.
